A new giant panda cub was born at the National Zoo on August 23, 2013. The zoo is holding an election to choose her name. The name will be announced at the cub's naming on December 1, 2013, which is 100 days after her birth. According to Chinese tradition, a baby is officially named on its 100th day. Students at Westbrook will be learning about the names from the National Zoo's website, and listening to a radio report explaining their meanings. They can also watch the baby and its mother on the zoo's panda cam 1 or panda cam 2. Once they make their choice, they will use a form to submit their vote, and we will send our results to the zoo. | Click here to vote! Click here to vote! |
