Same, Same but Different
Mrs. Schnarr's first grade students have been learning about the lives of pioneer children. During a visit to The Grove, they had the chance to experience what day-to-day life was like for children living more than 100 years ago. Then they read the book Same, Same but Different by Jenny Sue Kostecki-Shaw, which tells the story of two modern-day pen pals, one in India and one in the United States. The boys find that many things in their lives are the same, but different.
The first graders extended that idea to compare and contrast their lives with the lives of children who lived long ago. They drew their ideas, and then used iMovie on their iPads to record their thinking. |
